Looked what walked in the door this Monday! A rare vintage Edison “Gem” Phonograph with 10 cylinders and believe us when we say it is a true Gem and we love the antique Oak case! This week we have some really unusual vintage desk items including the 2 brass inkwells pictured below. The 411 on the furniture is a small sofa table, a Thomasville Cherry Dining room table with 6 chairs and a large library table which would be a fabulous computer desk. And speaking of computer desk, in the shop for our “back to school” group is this Hooker computer desk with all the bells and whistles. And finally, if your name is MacDuff, Stewart or McGregor, the vintage prints with the tartan are to die for! We hope you will stop by for a visit!
School starts in 63 hours, but who is counting! The shop is filled to the brim with new deliveries. This week we received a lovely mahogany buffet, 3 great upholstered side chairs, oak mission style desk, vintage oak swivel office chair, several small vintage side tables along with a boatload of chotchkies! It’s time to make a visit to The Corner Shoppe. Look for us this month in West Suburban Living Magazine. The word is out, this is the place to shop!

One other item we forgot to mention this week was the lovely Henredon sideboard which can be used just about anywhere. We are currently using it as our sofa table in our “family room”.
It is more than hot, and we have the shades drawn at the shop to stay cool, so come on in!

Just a quick post, as we are running around like crazy these days. We love this Alfred Montgomery (1857-1922) Corn print. It has embossed corn and a raised pumpkin stem on the print. Very Unusual. We had another Basket of Corn oil on board by Alfred Montgomery that has already found a new home, but we wanted you to see it anyway. One of our favorite decorating Guru’s is in town this weekend, Eddie Ross, and we are hoping he gets a chance to stop by the store! Here’s our shout out to Eddie and Jaithan, COME VISIT!!!

Between the season finale of “24″ and “American Idol” we hope to be posting more of the vintage jewelry (Coro, Kramer, Eisenberg, Lisner, Florenza, St. John’s, Trifari), the Johnson Brothers Devonshire and the antique Haviland china that has arrived this week, so check back later or stop by for a visit!
On Monday, this Drexel sofa table with two seats and vintage Mahogany china cabinet landed in the store. We will be posting later pictures of several pieces of vintage pottery and china that also arrived. Today we are putting in a plug for Google to visit their home page and vote for one of the images drawn by school age children. Over 33,000 entries were received, so check out those young creative artists!
Finally, a reminder, if you are reading our Blog from the beginning, that’s great! It will give you an idea of the items that frequently land in our store and the type of items we consigning. However, to see our current inventory, go to Craigslist and search for The Corner Shoppe under the furniture category. The store is packed full so stop in for a visit soon!
We have not been giving the crystal, silver, pottery and jewelry their fair share of the pictures on this Blog. First of all, they are difficult to photograph well and second, the vintage furniture usually takes center stage. So, with weddings and anniversaries just around the corner, here are a few pictures of the interesting vintage pieces that have landed in the shop over the past week.
